Mental Health in Primary Care; 28th November 2014; Durham
Our mental health in primary care event will take place on the afternoon of Friday 28th November at the Durham Centre, Belmont.
Dr Matthew Walmsley from South Tyneside will offer a CCG perspective; round-table discussions will identify local priorities and support needs for mental health in primary care; and delegates will also have the opportunity to attend one of the afternoon's themed workshops.
The event will also mark the national launch of a new educational film about Shared Decision Making in Primary Care Mental Health (using depression as an exemplar). The film has been co-produced by experts by experience from Moving Forward Service Newcastle and members of Newcastle University (Dr Darren Flynn, Dr Aoife De Brun and Mrs Sian Pointon), with input and contribution from boxing legend, Frank Bruno MBE. Dr Darren Flynn, Practitioner (Health) Psychologist will present an overview of the development process of the film, including the value of shared decision making (SDM) for supporting recovery.
