Welcome to the North of England Mental Health Development Unit website

The North of England Mental Health Development Unit is a Social Enterprise and company limited by guarantee, established in November 2011 by two members of the former NHS-hosted and funded North East Mental Health Development Unit. 

 

The new North of England Mental Health Development Unit aims to improve the mental health and social wellbeing of local communities by:

  • working alongside statutory and independent organisations to develop and deliver their strategic objectives, increase their efficiency and capacity and deliver recovery focused outcomes;
  • working alongside service users and carers to develop an active role in their care as well as the development of health and social care services.

As a social enterprise we aim to reinvest a proportion of our resources to support the development of organisations whose beneficiaries are socially excluded and vulnerable people across the North of England.

We are a group of expert change leaders in mental health who:

> source and transfer best practice

> create partnerships and connections

> provide access to a wide range of expertise via a large network of associates

> develop bespoke solutions to organisational challenges

> deliver national initiatives regionally

> attract investment and expertise into the region

> are independent of other organisations

> have the skills and experience to manage projects which cross organisational boundaries.
